Look for the Sunshine
/Sometimes the sun is hidden behind the clouds, but it is always sunny somewhere. You just have to trust.
Thoughts, posts, and articles about health, wellness, and mental healthcare in a wild and discombobulated world.... and, of course, how all three interact.
Sometimes the sun is hidden behind the clouds, but it is always sunny somewhere. You just have to trust.

During this week of love, we often emphasize our romantic feelings. But, you should also take a moment to appreciate your true friends as well. They are valuable gifts that we give ourselves and are the families that the choose for ourselves. They are our true prizes.
How do you start your days? Are you a fan of hot water with lemon as I am?? I mean, I SWEAR by it!!! Seriously - Lemon Water really keeps me hustlin'!!
I know - it doesn't seem like it would taste great but it really is a super drink.
The combination of the lemons with the hot water really helps the body in the morning after 8+ hours of fasting. Hot lemon water helps with detoxification of the body. Lemons are a great alkaline food, which helps balance your body's pH. Hot lemon water soothes an upset stomach. The hot water helps cleanse the system, while the lemon juice helps soothe the acidity. Hot lemon water stimulates your gastrointestinal tract by waking it up to absorb nutrients. Lemon juice supports weight loss as it contains pectin, which is a soluble fiber, known for helping with weight loss.
If you drink one can of soda every week day for one year:
140 calories per can x 260 week days
=36,400 calories per year
3,500 extra calories = 1 pound of body weight
You do the math!*
*but if you don't want to, that's 10 pounds per year!
Sometimes we get caught up in the idea that "Perfect Practice Makes Perfect." Instead of focusing on the perfect picture in your head of what life should be (whether it's a white picket fence with 2.7 children or the PhD and your own empire of employees), focus on the path that gets you there and enjoying it. Sometimes, the road might not be straight, but it will always get us to where we are going.
Remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and embrace your love and light today.
A New Year. It's when we all set our resolutions for the year. Over 40% of Americans set New Year's Resolutions. And, only 8% of people achieve them. Often, this low percentage is because the resolution is too unmeasurable or not set in stone. But if this is the case, how can people make changes??
This year, instead of a resolution, I'm challenging you to take your dreams and create a blueprint for them. Set an intention. Get an accountability partner and make a plan to achieve that goal. It may take some time, but if you create the plan, you can get there. If you need help achieving those goals, give me a call at 203-938-5775. I can help.
Embrace your life. Live it. Tackle it.
